Metformin guideline wins Irish Healthcare Award for best research paper/ project

We are delighted to announce that the article: ‘Metformin for the Prevention of Antipsychotic-Induced Weight Gain: Guideline Development and Consensus Validation’ won the best Research Paper/ Project at the Irish Healthcare Awards on 4th November 2025. Congratulations to Aoife Carolan, first author on the paper, Caroline Hynes-Ryan and A/Prof Dolores Keating from St John of God University Hospital. This article details the development of the clinical guideline aimed at preventing antipsychotic induced weight gain. It has been viewed nearly 50,000 on the Schizophrenia Bulletin website and has been the most read article for most of the year since publication in late 2024.
