Professor Donal O’Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist

Donal is a Consultant Endocrinologist at St Vincent’s University Hospital and St Columcilles’s Hospital in Loughlinstown. Donal is the HSE national lead for obesity and Head of the Obesity Immunology Research Group at St Vincent’s University Hospital and UCD. This multidisciplinary research group aims to understand how obesity causes diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, as well as how bodyweight can be regulated. Donal has established an in-reach endocrinology and obesity service within the inpatient National Forensic Mental Health Service.  Donal is a regular commentator on the importance of preventing obesity and has influenced policy in this area.
