Recently published article from PROGRESS on whether older females have different dosing requirements of antipsychotic medications
A recently published article by Dr Tara Burke demonstrated that females who experience the onset of a first episode of psychosis after the average age of menopause require a higher dose of the antipsychotic medication olanzapine. This article was testing the hypothesis that oestrogen can impact the metabolism of certain antipsychotic medications and as endogenous oestrogen decreases, the levels of medication reduce in the system and hence require higher doses.
